Company Profile: Cantalupo Tours To Italy provides specialized small-group tour itineraries and thematic walks throughout Italy, including the historic towns of Florence, Naples, Rome, Venice, and the island of Sicily. Programs include visits to world-class museums, food demonstrations, Italian cultural exhibits, art history and architectural discussions, and excursions to wineries.
Position: TOUR DIRECTOR/GROUND MANAGER
Responsibilities: Conduct group and individual tours throughout Italy including Florence, Naples, Rome, Venice, and Sicily. Lead discerning visitors in their exploration of Florence—the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, Rome—the Eternal City, Venice—La Serenissima, and the enchanting island of Sicily. Guides will share their knowledge and passion for Italy while leading active, educational trips. Maintain accurate records, establish relationships with artists, restaurants, and cultural venues to improve tours. Position reports directly to the Director.
Essential Duties:
meet members of tour on arrival and make introductions
coordinate pre-arranged accommodation and transport, and ensure comfort of tour members
lead tour groups and advise members of local interest points and prepare and present tour commentaries
coordinate pre-arranged touring activities such as visits to local attractions, restaurants, shops, museums, and historical monuments
attend to operational problems such as booking errors and amendments, lost luggage or illness, and if needed, provide first aid
liaise with transportation companies
Requirements: Superior communication capabilities, leadership abilities, and a desire to be part of a dynamic team. Committed to service and attention to detail. Polished presentation abilities, personable disposition, and computer literacy. Conversational Italian language skills, an abiding passion for Italy, and available to work a flexible schedule throughout Italy approximately four months a year. An undergraduate degree in Art History or related topic is preferred. Prior experience as a tour guide is highly desirable.
